I think that pple do not want to use the term because it makes them feel that they are supporting the female side more than supporting each side equally.........so in turn if feel that they are supporting one side more they are bias rather than equal

I think that the word Feminist still carries negative connotations with it, despite the fact that many feminists today do not associate themselves with extreme measures such as bra-burning and man-hating protests. Because of these negative stereotypes that are still attached to feminism, a lot of people (both men and women) are reluctant to identify as feminists.

It breaks my heart, because I am a feminist, and I believe in equality, and I'm not afraid to identify with what I believe in. I wish others weren't so scared to stand up for what they believe in. It's frustrating when people say that they believe in equal rights for women and men, and believe in a lot of feminist standpoints, yet follow their arguments with "but I'm not a feminist". Why the hell not?
